About Me

FRANCESCA R. BARJON

Director. Writer. Producer.

Francesca R. Barjon is a Haitian-American director, writer, and producer from New York. After attending NYU Stern where she studied management and accounting, she worked as a Certified Public Accountant at a Big Four Accounting Firm. While mastering the art of numbers by day, Francesca was finding her voice as a writer at night.

Realizing that storytelling wasn’t just a passion but a necessity, Francesca began directing as a way to bring her words to life. She quickly fell in love with the medium and has directed films exploring mental health in activism (The White Flag) and the complexities of coming out and dating (Perfect, Earth to Melanie). Francesca’s projects capture the messy, heartfelt, and often humorous realities of marginalized communities. Her upcoming feature film projects tackle the perils of dating in a reality TV obsessed world, the nuances of female friendships, and the role of Vodou in the Haitian Revolution. Francesca believes in telling diverse stories that challenge, heal, and make audiences feel seen. Her favorite genres to write and direct include romance, family dramas, and fantasy.

Since arriving in LA, Francesca has completed the NBCUniversal Page Program where she learned a tremendous amount about the Film & TV industry. Next, Francesca worked as a writer’s PA on Netflix’s Virgin River and finally as a writer’s PA for the Obamas' production company (Higher Ground), before launching her independent filmmaking career. Crucial to Francesca’s ability to direct, has been her ability to Executive Produce each of the short films she has directed. As a result of her business background and industry connections, Francesca has been able to shoot three quality short films.

The White Flag won Best Short Film at IFB Studios 2025 Film Festival and is continuing to perform on the festival circuit. Earth to Melanie and Perfect are currently both in post-production.
